It’s that time of year again for wedding fairs and we have just the thing for photographes who would like to get their name out there.

With Bluetooth technology at its peak (64% of mobiles have Bluetooth switced on at all time) you can send images, apps and messages to guests at weddings, grabbing their attention and spreading your name and reputation among your target audience.

Through bluetooth you can send a photo of the bride and groom with your website and phone number overlayed. This can be easily done as people are sitting down for their meal and let bluetooth transmit as you continue your work.

This way you can have your name on upto 80% of mobiles at the wedding at no cost to you or the guest. They in turn can forward your image to absent friends via multi-media text messaging or attach to their facebook page.

All this for a one off payment of just €670.

Apps in Education

Google and Apple have taken a huge slice of the education market so far, with Google boasting 16 million students using its online educational apps.  Apple have introduced their educational remit with some degree of success in Ireland but some problems still arise for participating schools.  The major restrictions for teachers is the lack of educational apps and poor broadband in most schools.  Another concern is the lack of equipment. Feedback from the teachers has been broadly positive but the restrictions of apple-only educational apps and the shortfalls of Irish broadband standards has made class participation frustrating,

ziggiapps propose an alternative option to the multi-nationals.  As our software is compatible with most mobile devices including PDA’s, we believe we can supply a more suitable, reliable and bespoke service to the Irish and UK marketplace.

With most schools in Ireland now using interactive whiteboards we can also supply online templates teachers can adapt and use for class participation.  This would be particularly useful for local Geography or History projects for example. Apps can also be used for class tests such as spelling or maths.  These apps could also be self marking, freeing up valuable time for the teacher by not having to correct individual copies during class.

Benefits of apps in education:

  1. It’s a fun way to get children interested in a subject.
  2. Instant assessment allowing pupils to see their mistakes immediately.
  3. Learning about apps will equip children with knowledge of the latest technology.  (Learning within learning)
  4. Reduces waste by replacing paper.
  5. Locally relevant Apps.

  4. Easy to access

  8. Apps can be downloaded from your own website, by-passing app stores.

iPhone Killer!!!!

iPhone Killer has been thrown about for the past year now and frankly as good as other phones have become the iPhone still seems to be the number one choice for customers. But is that about to change! Samsung has recently released their Galaxy model which is as slick and cool as the iPhone but lacks apps and brand appeal. Why buy a Samsung when you can buy an iPhone for the same money? Sony too is finding sales of the excellent Xperia very disappointing considering the excellent name and design. But maybe the leading name in Europe has finally come up good. Nokia are about to release the N8 and it will impress even the most smug iPhone user with its AMOLED touch screen display and 12MP camera this ultimate smart phone will be taking another chunk out of the Apple logo. According to some sources the cost of producing the N8 was the same as the iPhone; $187. Nokia have spent most of the budget on the screen and camera. Nokia also boasts a pretty impressive app store through OVI and are heavily marketing to developers and customers alike.
Sony Ericsson is also not preparing to step back despite initial soft sales. CEO, Bert Nordberg knows being friends with Google Android might just be the future as Android takes a 17.5% share of the market:
“Our strategy to focus on the Smartphone segment is succeeding and smart phones now comprise more than 50pc of our total sales. During the quarter, we launched our Android-based Xperia models in new markets, such as China and the US, and it is our ambition to become the global No 1 handset provider on the Android platform,”
The battle of the Smartphone OS is like VHS/BETA, Bluray/HDVD, Neanderthals/Homo sapiens. How bloody boring.

The Future of Advertising is Mobile – so says Google!

Mobile-phone-advertising

Google labelled the future of advertising at the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s MIXX Conference in New York as

“Display 2015: Smart and Sexy”

Google states that with a huge jump in smart-phone sales, mobile is going to be the number one screen through which users engage with advertisers’ digital brands.

“Today, the “click” is the most important way that advertisers measure their display ad campaigns, but it’s not always the best measure—especially if an ad campaign is designed to boost things like brand awareness or recall,” said Neal Mohan, Vice President of Product Management at Google.

“Just like most news articles on the web today can be commented on, shared, discussed, subscribed to and recommended, in 2015, 75pc of ads on the web will be “social” in nature—across dozens of formats, sites and social communities.

“Rich media formats work. They enable great creativity and interaction between users and advertisers, but today they only represent about 6pc of total display ad impressions. That will increase to 50pc, for brand-building ad campaigns.

“All the investments that are making display advertising smarter and sexier will help publishers increase their revenues. Display advertising is going to grow to a $50 billion industry in five years.”

Location Based Information – The Origins of ziggi!

World Wide Web

World Wide Web (Photo credit: Bull3t)

Hello and welcome!

What’s going on in the world of technology and marketing/communication?

We set up ziggiapps.com back in 2008 and every since its been a steep learning curve – we’ve gone down a few wrong roads, reversing to find new, better paths where the future looks brighter.

Anyone that works in technology knows how difficult it is to stay ahead of the game and we are constantly looking out for new innovative ideas so please feel free to leave a comments/suggestions!

I know, I know, innovative is the most over used word since the start of this recession but I couldn’t think of another one…..

ziggiapps.com is our website – check out what we do.

We began our research by looking at trends in the world wide web and discovered that people are getting drowned in information.

Do you ever feel like the web is like asking a group of people for directions and they all come back with alternative directions at the same time!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the web and I’m sure it will catch on some day;-)

Current articles on the future of the web tends to have a few reoccurring trends;

  1. Bite sized information – what do people want to know??
  2. Location, location, location – Where are you doing business??
  3. Search as you shop  – When are people searching for what they want??

The web has almost come full circle. The internet broke down borders and allowed people to do business everywhere in the world. Now we find billions of websites and its becoming more and more difficult to find what you want.

People are searching for products when they are out shopping. This seems a little bizarre but true. Prior to super fast 3G and smart-phones consumers would generally search days in advance before heading out to the shops. Now, people shop and search as they shop.

The tech savvy consumer is now in one of  2 categories; The WWW online consumer  & the price comparison consumer who knows how to buy stuff online but would still perfer to see the product up-close.

The world wide web has become the who where web. Acording to a recent report in Wired Magazine, “Now mobile phones are inverting everything again, in the other direction — because your location becomes the most important thing about you.”
