The Beatles App – Released by ziggiapps.com

ziggiapps.com is extremely proud of their Dinosaur Album Guides first installment in an exciting serialised collection of album guides.

This design is the first in the series; ‘The Beatles Please Please Me – The Album Guide’

The album guide allows users to glide from song to song through a beautiful and intuitive design that compliments the ultimate guide to the Beatles by Joe Rodgers.

With its lyrical themes of teen angst, insecurity, euphoric joy, love and depression combined with the high octane rock ‘n’ roll of its loud guitars and trashy open high-hats, the release of ‘Please Please Me’ in March 1963 was a seminal moment in the history of British rock music. Its success at home paved the way for the Beatles` relentless evolution throughout 1963, culminating in their international explosion in 1964.
English artists were virtually unknown in the US prior to the British invasion (spearheaded by the Fab Four in 1964). The musical and cultural explosion which followed their breakthrough established British pop/rock (particularly alternative) as the dominating force in international music over the following 30-40 years. And it all began with ‘Please Please Me’.

Exactly which instruments were used during the recording of the album?
Who was the first artist to cover a song from the Fab Four?
What was John Lennon drinking when he recorded the riotous vocal on ‘Twist And Shout’?
Who was the inspiration behind ‘I Saw Her Standing There’?
Why was WEEDON a private word for anything totally uncool?

All this and more, in this unique Album Companion.

The App is online today on Apple and Google app stores for iPad and Android Tablets.  It is also available in ebook format on Kindle.

Apps in Education

Google and Apple have taken a huge slice of the education market so far, with Google boasting 16 million students using its online educational apps.  Apple have introduced their educational remit with some degree of success in Ireland but some problems still arise for participating schools.  The major restrictions for teachers is the lack of educational apps and poor broadband in most schools.  Another concern is the lack of equipment. Feedback from the teachers has been broadly positive but the restrictions of apple-only educational apps and the shortfalls of Irish broadband standards has made class participation frustrating,

ziggiapps propose an alternative option to the multi-nationals.  As our software is compatible with most mobile devices including PDA’s, we believe we can supply a more suitable, reliable and bespoke service to the Irish and UK marketplace.

With most schools in Ireland now using interactive whiteboards we can also supply online templates teachers can adapt and use for class participation.  This would be particularly useful for local Geography or History projects for example. Apps can also be used for class tests such as spelling or maths.  These apps could also be self marking, freeing up valuable time for the teacher by not having to correct individual copies during class.

Benefits of apps in education:

  1. It’s a fun way to get children interested in a subject.
  2. Instant assessment allowing pupils to see their mistakes immediately.
  3. Learning about apps will equip children with knowledge of the latest technology.  (Learning within learning)
  4. Reduces waste by replacing paper.
  5. Locally relevant Apps.
